“In rural Zambia, 78% of families live in poverty…”

Local job creation

The sustainable model that AKCLI follows does more than secure the livelihood of the Villages of Hope; it also produces work for the families in the surrounding community. In rural Zambia, 78% of families live in poverty because of a lack of job opportunities. Each medium-sized business that is managed by Villages of Hope employs a number of local Zambians to both operate it and manage it. The income earned by a single employee typically is enough to meet the needs of seven people. The Villages of Hope gives men and women the opportunity to better care for their families by offering quality employment and the possibility of future business ownership and development.
